Session Themes: Pedagogy, Somatics; The intended audience for this session is Higher Education and K-12 (public or private). Colleagues Sarah Leddy and Ariyan Johnson present an experiential movement workshop in designing anti-racist dance curriculum. Participants will play, move, and reflect together as they experience the community building methods that Johnson and Leddy employ in their studio classes. Workshop leaders will demonstrate creating a safe, welcoming, student-centered environment that develops confident, socially conscious dance artists across the disciplines of Hip Hop (Johnson) and Modern (Leddy). In addition to movement activities, participants will reflect in writing and in conversation on developing their own anti-racist dance pedagogy.
