Carry the spirit. Share the connection.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines spiritual as relating to or affecting the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things. 

The cypher is a representation of the full breadth of Hip Hop culture and carries many definitions. Watkins and Caines (2014) describe it as a space where diverse performers improvise their words, sounds, or movements to create a complex matrix of sharing, where the circle can go on continuously as long as emcees, beatboxers, dancers, and the crowd sustain the fluidity of the cypher, and where the cypher is welcoming and models a pedagogy that is inclusive and improvisational in nature. 

By combining the concept of the spiritual with the concept of the cypher, I have arrived at the following definition: 

"A spiritual cypher is a convergence of revelational knowledge that divinely orchestrates your life's purpose . . . encoded within is one's maturation and becoming, which identifies as a personal spiritual cypher" (Johnson, 2023, p. n.p.). The underlying idea is that as the individual matures in the pursuit of purpose and in the search for the divine, that individual influences those around them.
